About Us – Brief History

AssetRelay was created as a division of Simbol Test Systems Inc. in 2002 to offer companies used test equipment solutions instead of over priced new items. Since then, they have moved into their own building, established many long term connections with local and worldwide companies and became a major player in the world of used optical equipment.

In 2007, AssetRelay helped with the launch of a new division of Simbol Test Systems named Photoncom who specializes in the repair and calibration of Fiber Optic Test Equipment and other types of equipment.

Today AssetRelay is an internationally known company with one of the biggest Used Optical Test Equipment inventories in the world, one of the most competitive repair and calibration labs out there and is the Internet's one stop shop for all used and refurbished Optical Test Equipment.

Terms and Conditions

The following is an extensive description of our terms, methods of payment, shipping info, warranty policy, testing services available and other general information that you need to know when doing business with us. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at sales@assetrelay.com. We appreciate the time you have taken to contact us and your interest in our business.

TERMS:

All first time Customers will be Prepaid unless otherwise noted by your Sales Representative. You can see the Terms applied to your account on the last page of this document.

B) Pay using PayPal

Use the "send money" option on Paypal.com and send the funds to sales@assetrelay.com. See PayPal.com for step by step instructions. We do not accept PayPal payments from P.O. Box addresses.

NOTE: A 2.95% Fee will be applied to your order to cover standard PayPal fees.

C) Pay by Credit Card

The Credit Card Method of Payments is only available to North American customers.


We only accept Visa and MasterCard.

D) Pay by check

All checks must be made payable to Simbol Test Systems Inc with the following remittance address:

Prepaid orders will not be shipped until all funds are received and have cleared our bank account.

SHIPPING INFO:

All shipments will be charged to the customers Courier Account Number which will need to be provided upon confirmation of a purchase. Federal Express (FedEx) is preferred but all other couriers are accepted.  All requests to ship via Fed Ex GROUND or UPS STANDARD to the United States will be refused upon request UNLESS a Customs Broker Name and account number is provided.

The Customer is responsible for the cost of transportation, brokerage fees as well as all taxes and duties that may be applicable by their country. The customer will assume full responsibility for transport damages and claims if any. Asset Relay is not responsible for any damages that could occur during transport.

Customers will need to inform their Sales Representative if they wish to have Shipping Insurance.

WARRANTY:

USED Items are sold with a predetermined Right of Return period (ROR) and Warranty length. In some cases used items can be sold AS IS. You can view both the Right of Return and Warranty times on the Sales Quote found on the last page of this document.

All NEW items will be sold with the Manufacturers Warranty unless otherwise noted by your Sales Representative.

In the event of an ROR Return, the customer may return the item(s) purchased for a full refund as long as it is shipped within the ROR period. Customers are responsible for all shipping charges.

In the event of a Warranty Return, Asset Relay reserves the right to repair, replace or issue a refund at their discretion for items that the customer reports as being defective. Customers are responsible for all shipping charges.

All Right of Returns and Warrantees will be VOID if products are mishandled by either the transport company or the customer (unless insurance was applied - SEE SHIPPING SECTION).

A RMA number must be issued before sending back equipment. We reserve the right to refuse returned items that did not have an RMA number assigned.

All Warranty or ROR returns will become null and void should it be determined that the equipment was subjected to undue abuse, involved in any type of mishap, incorrectly wired and/or used/maintained in a manner contrary to the manufacturer’s published instructions

Please confirm your Right of Return period and Warranty length with your Sales Representative before committing to a purchase.

TESTING SERVICES AVAILABLE:

A) Functional Test Certificate:

This certificate is provided in order to assure that the equipment was tested in compliance with a quality system, using PhotonCom's procedures. At the completion of the test, the equipment COMPLIED with the performance capability. The equipment is shipped with a functional test certificate.

B) Calibration:

This calibration is performed to ensure the functionality of the equipment and to verify that the "key features" meet the manufacturer's published specifications, wherever possible, at the points tested. The "key features" are the most important parameters of the equipment (i.e. for an attenuator the "key feature" is the attenuation accuracy). This calibration will assure confidence in the equipment; it comes with calibration sticker and a certificate of calibration.

C) Premium Calibration:

This calibration is performed using manufacturer's performance tests procedure, where available. It is designed to assure that the equipment meets or exceeds manufacturer's published specifications. Since we have extended knowledge and experience within the fiber optics field, in many instances our procedures surpass the manufacturer's calibration procedures (i.e. given that we have a lot of repair experience with these types of equipments, we perform additional tests that are not verified by the manufacturer's procedures and that we consider as very important.). Instrumentation used during this calibration is traceable to N.I.S.T. (National Institute of Standards and Technology) or C.N.R.C. (Canadian National Research Council). The equipment will be shipped with a calibration sticker, a certificate of premium calibration and calibration data.

As mentioned, our inventory is one of the largest in the world. We buy as much as we can in order to have the largest array of choices available to our customers.

Once you purchase items from AssetRelay, the equipment is then tested and calibrated, when asked to, by Photoncom. Photoncom is a sister company to AsseRelay who deals in repairs and calibrations. They will test every item to ensure it meets the manufacturer’s general specifications. It is important to note that many of their calibration procedures surpass the original manufacturers and all the equipments used to calibrate items are N.I.S.T. Traceable.




We ship all around the world on a daily basis. To help ease your mind we use your preferred courier, whether it is FedEx, UPS, Purolator, TNT, DHL, Emery or Bax Global. We choose the best box and packaging means then prepare the necessary paperwork to make sure your order arrives at its destination safely and ready to use.




Repairs

Photoncom is one of the best repair and calibration centers out there. They are the people who expertly test every AssetRelay order before sending it out to the customer. Many of their calibration procedures surpass the original manufacturers and all the equipments used to calibrate items are N.I.S.T. Traceable.


Photoncom is the only calibration laboratory specialized in fiber optics test and measurement equipment, is the authorized Canadian service center for Fujikura Fusion Splicers and Cleavers and is compliant with many ISO 17025 requirements for which an accreditation is being pursued. PhotonCom is also servicing several JDSU Optical Instruments that are no longer supported.
